Dosen Departemen Teknik Geodesi

Profile

Heri Sutanta is an Associate Professor in Geospatial Information Infrastructure at the Department of Geodetic Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia. He received his B.Eng. in Geodesy from Universitas Gadjah Mada, his M.Sc. from the University of Twente, the Netherlands, and his Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

His research focuses on geospatial information infrastructures, geographic information systems (GIS), geospatial information management, spatial planning, and disaster risk reduction. He has made significant contributions to the development of methods for assessing the readiness and performance of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) at both local and national government levels in Indonesia. The enhanced assessment framework he developed has been adopted as the official evaluation methodology for the Bhumandala Award, Indonesia's national recognition for excellence in geospatial information, covering both the Spatial Data Infrastructure and Geospatial Innovation categories. Since 2014, he has served as the Head of the Bhumandala Award Selection Committee.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Sutanta has extensive experience as a consultant and advisor for national and international organizations. He has contributed to numerous geospatial information management and spatial planning projects for local governments, the Geospatial Information Agency (Badan Informasi Geospasial/BIG), and the World Bank.
