"I decided to choose Geodetic Engineering as the only option for college life. I did not opt for any other major. Honestly, I did not know much about it when I was in high school. It turned out that I enjoyed it so much. I offers a lot to learn and they become a strong foundation for me to learn different things a long the way. It has also opened a wide range of opportunities and trans-disciplinary collaboration. I am flying to the US to showcase my research project. Thanks to the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM."
"Yes, I am an engineering student. Geodetic Engineering! In addition to that, I have also been active in different activities. I am currently an active member of UGM Buddy Club. We help international students settle their academic and non academic life during their study in UGM. This might not have direct impact on my study at geodetic engineering but this experience helps me gain a lot more opportunities."
"My experience studying Geodetic Engineering at UGM was exceptional as the program equipped me with a strong foundation in mathematics and geospatial technology. The faculty members were knowledgeable and supportive, and the practical study opportunities were invaluable in developing the skills required to excel in the field. Additionally, being based in Jogjakarta, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the rich local culture and experience the vibrant art, music, and food scene, which added an enriching dimension to my overall learning experience."
"I started my career in a mining company, dealing with all the technical aspects involved in mapping for mining industry. I then made an amazing adventure by moving from one company to others, dealing with different aspects of business, including sales and marketing. The foundation that I built during my study at the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM has given agility during my career endeavor. "
"I had never imagined, how a graduate from the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM would work in a giant startup company like Gojek. Surveyors had always been associated with working in the field conducting mapping surveys. I proved it first-hand that surveyors can go beyond that."
"G'day mate! Greetings from Down Under. I have to tell you that UGM's Department of Geodetic Engineering provided me with a solid foundation in the geospatial industry. The comprehensive curriculum, ace lecturers, and supportive environment laid the foundation for my growth. The university's emphasis on overcoming challenges and fostering resilience has proven invaluable in my career. Now working in Sydney, Australia, I'm truly grateful to UGM for guiding students towards bright futures and global impact. Cheers!"
"Working around the globe in the energy industry, serving as a manager and professional in my own core discipline, Geomatics Engineering is truly enjoyable and honestly my pride.
Well known for its reputation, UGM's Department of Geodetic Engineering has set a strong foundation in academics, competitiveness, bold growth mindset, and character building in my personal life and my career journey. Consistently nurtures resilience and toughness in adverse pressing situations.
Through its robust program and intensive interaction among experts and practitioners, I observe UGM's Geodetic Engineering program continually enhances, enriches, and equips, the graduates with strong self-determination to reach and grab infinite possibilities and opportunities."
"Being a student of the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM is one thing I never regret. The chance to not only improve hard skills but also soft skills is the best aspect of being a student. Here I was exposed to the wide range of studies in geodesy and geomatics and could choose which one I was passionate about. Now it’s your turn to pursue your dream and find out what you're capable of."
"I have travelled around the globe and worked in five oceans to map the bottom of the sea for oil and gas exploration. All of these started from my decision to study at the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM. Something I never regret!"
"I have proven two things. First, women have equal opportunity in working in the field as a surveyor. Surveys and mapping are not only for men. Second, an Indonesian can perform well in an international stage, competing and collaborating with people from different countries. I am grateful to the foundation I gained during my study at the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM."
"Who would even think how a surveyor like me working in the World Bank? Many would not know that the World Bank deals a lot with natural resources, and I have been utilizing my geospatial knowledge and experience in performing my role. I thank the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM for providing me with a strong foundation to learn different areas that eventually gave me various opportunities."
"I am a geospatial entrepreneur. I envisage the role of geospatial technology in enhancing the economic values of location. This way, I introduced the application of geospatial for non-geospatial. I believe every industry needs geospatial technology in terms as simple as maps, and you can’t map the new world with old maps. The foundation of creative thinking I learned while studying at the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM has taken me up to this stage of life."
"I have been working in the field of land administration for more than three decades. With the help of geospatial knowledge and way of thinking, I gained during my study at the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM, I deal a lot with land conflict resolution as well as the role of land administration in economic improvement."
"I am currently working in an exciting field, relevant to the life of many, if not all. I have been applying geospatial approaches and technology to develop voluntary carbon projects, including restoring the peatland and mangrove forests ecosystem, saving Orangutans and other endangered species, and supporting local communities. By issuing carbon credits and selling them on the carbon market, I help organizations to offset their carbon footprint. Yes, I am dealing with the business side of a critical issue we are all facing: climate change! I am grateful for what I have learned at the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM."
"I have been working in the Indonesian Navy since 2001. As a nautical cartographer, I have held a variety of assignments and experiences, not only dealing with nautical charting for marine navigation that underpin safety of life at sea, but also other hydrography and marine geospatial data fields for many purposes including defense and national interests. I also represent Indonesia in the IHO for electronic navigational charts standards maintenance and development. Geodesy as a fundamental knowledge of hydrography and cartography is so relevant to the field that I am currently involved, and it has brought me this far. I am very proud and grateful to be a part of Department of Geodetic Engineering UGM."
"I am lucky to have extensive experiences in mapping the ocean soon after graduating from the Department of Geodetic Engineering, UGM. I enjoy spending my time in a survey ship roaming in the middle of the ocean while trying to understand our ocean through mapping. My study at UGM has equipped me with adequate skills to do all of those. I have a dream to see more female surveyors taking part in this exciting world of ocean mapping ."
