A Talk on Digital Twin for Mining Operations from Prof. Trias Aditya on the occasion of ASABA Geo Tech Summit 2024

Lecturer and Head of the UGM Geodetic Engineering Department, Prof. Trias Aditya, was one of the main speakers at the 1st ASABA Geo Tech Summit 2024 which was held at the Mercure Samarinda Hotel, 19 September 2024. The event which was organized by ASABA, known as one of the biggest Survey & Mapping Equipment Service Providers in Indonesia (eg SOKKIA, CHC), was attended by more than 90 participants and mining companies in Kalimantan. ASABA Summit featured speakers: Sumarlin, S.T. (ESDM Mining Inspector), Dr. Ir. Barlian Dwinagara, M.T., IPU. (Deputy Chair of the PII Mining Engineering Vocational Agency – UPNV YK Lecturer) and Prof. Trias Aditya, Ph.D., IPU. ASEAN Eng. Trias Aditya delivered a talk on the topic: “Digital Twins and Geospatial Technology for Mining Operation Efficiency and Safety”.

ASABA’s Surveying Division is and will collaborate with the UGM Geodetic Engineering Department in the fields of Education and Research. These include research collaboration in the field of 3D Mapping with LiDAR, development of Digital Twin and also the provision of software grants and LIDAR survey tools for Tridharma Higher Education activities in the field of surveying and mapping at UGM. On the occasion of ASABA Sumit, Trias Aditya also had the opportunity to meet several alumni who work in the mining sector in various sites in Kalimantan.

The Head of the UGM Geodetic Engineering Department, Prof. Trias Aditya, gave a guest lecture at the University of Munich (TUM) campus at the Chair of Land Management, Department of Aerospace & Geodesy, TUM School of Engineering and Design in Germany on Wednesday 04 September 2024 . The lecture presentation entitled “Quality Issues, Cadastral Data Integration & Monetization with AR/VR Technology in Digital Land Administration Era” is the latest topic containing summaries, findings, learning and research development being carried out by Trias Aditya and the Team in the context of implementing the Capstone Grant Project (UGM) and Matching Funding Grant- Kedaireka (DIKTI), which is also supported by the Aubrey Barker Fund – FIG Foundation.

Trias Aditya carried out a collaborative and research visit to TUM from 2-6 September at the invitation of Prof. Walter de Vries, Chair of Land Management, TUM. This visit is also aimed to build opportunities to increase future cooperations in Geomatics Engineering Research and Education, especially in the Field of Land Management and Spatial Planning. This visit was in response to the visit of Prof. Walter de Vries previously done to UGM with TUM support, namely the Global Incentive Fund 2022. Collaborations that are being and have been implemented together include organizing an International Scientific Workshop, Doctoral Education and Joint Publications.
